Country maintains high level of vigilance and re enforcement of hygienic practices
Belize City, Belize - May 22nd, 2009
To date Belize has no confirmed cases of H1N1 influenza A. All tests results up to date have been negative for the virus. Authorities continue to exercise due diligence in ensuring that anyone fitting the criteria is tested and are maintaining public awareness programs and practices in regard to hygienic practices that prevent the spread of any contagious disease. Communication with the World Health Organization and neighboring countries is ongoing to ensure that Belize is abreast of and, acts upon any new developments in regard to the virus. The BTB continues to work closely with local health authorities to monitor any new developments, and is also maintaining close contact with all Belizean hotel and tour operators to ensure they are fully educated and prepared for any questions from tourists regarding the situation.
